Mahatma Gandhi Memorial High School Principal Sanjay Raman says Gandhi Day is celebrated to reflect and remind ourselves of the contribution of a great soul who is also known as the founder of opinion.

While speaking at the 154th Gandhi Day celebration at the Kshatriya Hall in Suva, Raman says Gandhi was a father of the nation who always followed the path of non-violence, truth and peace.

He says today's celebration will inform the current generation about Gandhi's sacrifices and inspire them to honor his life and legacy of greatness.

Raman further says that MGM also follows the principles of Mahatma Gandhi as the students and staff have been working tirelessly to bring about holistic development, providing a better teaching and learning environment for imparting important values, competencies and skills that allow them to prosper in the future.

The principal further says the school has also made their name among all the big secondary schools and is number one not just in terms of academic purpose but also in sports and other curricular activities.

Minister for Employment Agni Deo Singh was also part of the celebration where the students of MGM High School were awarded for best creative writing competition.

The theme for this year's Gandhi Day celebration is “Being the Agents of Change in Education to Progress”.
