The Fiji Water Flying Fijians will be keeping their guards high this weekend when they take on Tonga in round 1 of the Pacific Nations Cup in Lautoka. After the Tongan’s impressive 27-21 win over the Australian A side last week, the Flying Fijians know the task ahead of them won’t be an easy one as they try to kick start their road to the Rugby World Cup on a high note.

With less than two months away from their first RWC game against Wales, the Flying Fijians are confident they can produce positive results in this PNC campaign as well as the two test matches scheduled for them against France and England later next month.

Swire Shipping Fijian Drua Head of Athletic Performance Naca Cawanibuka had earlier stated during a fijivillage Straight Talk with Vijay Narayan that this squad is a good one as it has the cream of Fiji’s best current rugby players. He also said that the preparation that this squad is having has not been done before by any other Flying Fijian team in the past. Tonga on the other hand will be banking on their win last week to boost their confidence heading into this weekend’s clash.

The Ikale Tahi side is likely to name experienced players like former Wallabies fullback Israel Folau and also former All Blacks players Malakai Fekitoa, Charles Piutau and Vaea Fifita in their match day 23 squad. The Flying Fijians will take on Tonga at 3pm Saturday in Lautoka.
