Fiji Water Flying Fijians coach Mick Byrne says they have lifted the intensity in their training as they prepare for their round 3 Asahi Dry Pacific Nations Cup match.

Byrne stated this to the media from the Swire Shipping Fijian Drua Base in Nadi where they are training before they fly out to Tonga.

The coach says they are introducing some contact in training and some game speed.

He says there are a couple of players with niggling injuries that they are keeping an eye on and keeping them away from contact training.

Byrne says some of them are ready to go as they worked hard on their rehab on the bike, but they kept their intensity up.

Fiji will take on Tonga at 3pm Friday in Teufaiva Sport Stadium, Nukuʻalofa, Tonga.

Japan plays the USA at 10.05pm Saturday.
