“Fijians need to be the biggest advocates of the Fijian tourism industry and need to be more patriotic and put their money where their heart is.”

Minister for Commerce, Tourism and Trade, Faiyaz Koya stressed this while officially launching the “Love our Locals” Campaign.

He says this Campaign is an important initiative to build consumer confidence and ignite economic activity in the tourism sector.

Koya says as Fijians start taking part in tourism, they are supporting not just hotels, but Fijians associated with the industry – the staff of the hotel, the farmers who supply, the handicraft sellers and they will keep businesses open and running.

Koya adds that when Fijians start travelling within Fiji, it gives confidence to our international partners that Fiji is safe and ready to welcome them.

He says they have developed a set of COVID Safe Guidelines to help the industry adapt to this new normal.
