The Fiji Airways Fijiana 7s side left it a little bit too late in the quarter final as they tried to fight back and steal a win but Ireland held on to win 14-12 and progressed through to the semi final.

Fiji had a positive start to the game with prop Talei Qalo Wilson scoring in the corner with the conversion missing for an early 5-0 lead.

Ireland came back stronger and scored two converted tries later in the first half which proved to be the turning point of the game.

It was a tight contest in the second half but Fiji managed to score a converted try to Adi Vani Buleki with 2 minutes left on the clock closing the gap to 12-14.

Fiji hoped to create a miracle but the Irish held on to possession in the final minute of the game till the hooter sounded where they kicked the ball into touch to break the hearts of the Fijians.
