Prime Minister Sitiveni Rabuka and Japan's newly elected first female Prime Minister Takaichi Sanae where they have signed on the Kizuna-Lomavata Partnership to reaffirm and strengthen the bond between the nations.

Rabuka says Sanae's appointment marks a significant milestone in advancing inclusivity and strengthening representation within the political landscape. While acknowledging the special bond and enduring relationship between Fiji and Japan, Rabuka says this bond was formally established in 1970 after Fiji’s independence, fostering a partnership founded on respect, cooperation and deep appreciation.

He says the Kizuna-Lomavata Partnership is designed to reinforce the connections between the nations, facilitating a pathway towards a prosperous future.

Rabuka says through this collaboration, they anticipate achieving significant progress in key areas such as climate change, maritime security, education and cultural exchange.

The Prime Minister says these initiatives will not only strengthen their bilateral relations but also promote mutual prosperity for all our nations.

He has also acknowledged the Government of Japan for its invaluable support in bringing this partnership to fruition. Rabuka says he looks forward to deepening the strong ties between the nations, endeavouring towards a shared prosperity for both the countries and its people.

The Prime Minister adds he is confident that their continued cooperation will strengthen bilateral relations and bring about meaningful change among the people and its communities.
