Fiji remains unbeaten after defeating Australia 28-22

The Fiji Airways Fiji 7s team remains unbeaten in their pool after defeating Australia 28-22 in their last pool game at the Oceania Rugby 7s Championship.

Terio Tamani crossed over for a try in the dying minutes of the first-half with Australia leading Fiji into the break 10-7.

The national 7s team came firing in the opening of the second-half with a try each to Waisea Nacuqu and Iowane Teba to extend their lead.

Australia replied with two tries, but it was not enough as Fiji held them off to win 28-22.

In earlier games, Fiji thrashed Niue 47-5, beat New Zealand 12-5 and then thumped Oceania 31-12.

The Men’s semi-finals are at 3.28pm this afternoon with the final at 5.18pm.

Meanwhile the Fiji Airways Fijiana team dominated their pool games thrashing Cook Islands 50-0, thumping Tonga 40-5 and then decimated American Samoa 68-0 in their last pool game.

The women’s cup semi final is at 2.44pm this afternoon with the final at 6.24pm.
