Ministry of Health’s Head of Health Protection, Doctor Aalisha Sahukhan.

The Ministry of Health’s Head of Health Protection, Doctor Aalisha Sahukhan says the 7 positive COVID cases that have died due to pre-existing non-COVID-related illnesses were patients from the CWM Hospital’s Acute Medical Ward.

Doctor Sahukhan says the Acute Medical Ward is one of the wards quite badly affected by the COVID-19 outbreak at the CWM Hospital.

She says the ward is also one of the wards where some of the sickest patients in the hospital are managed.

Doctor Sahukhan says because there was an outbreak at the hospital, everybody was tested.

She says there are clear WHO guidelines that help you determine whether the death was related to COVID-19 or another illness.

Four patients have died from COVID-19 so far.
