Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Finance Professor Biman Prasad has called for Indonesia's support to advocate the scale up in climate adaptation financing and increased concessional lending and grants for small island developing states through the multilateral institutions.

Professor Prasad met the Indonesian Minister for Finance, Sri Mulyani on the sidelines of the ADB Annual Meeting.

He thanked Mulyani for her strong support and leadership at the multilateral institutions and her commitment to advance Fiji-Indonesia bilateral relationship.

Fiji has been part of the constituency office led by Indonesia at both the ADB and the World Bank and has always supported Fiji's development interests including the large financing support provided by these MDBs during the COVID crisis.

Mulyani congratulated Prasad and the new Government and assured her support to Fiji and the Pacific Island Countries.

He also met the Japanese Vice Minister for Finance for International Affairs, Australian Assistant Minister for Competition, Charities and Treasury, Dr Andrew Leigh and Deputy Assistant Secretary for the US Treasury.

Prasad also attended the opening session of the Board of Governors which was opened by the President of Korea, Yoon Sul Yeol and attended by all the Finance Ministers and Annual Meeting delegates.
