The Fiji women’s 7s side has secured their place in the Pacific Games 7s competition gold medal final after thrashing Tonga 44-0 in the first semi final this afternoon.

Fiji scored a total of 8 tries in the game with only 2 conversions.

Tonga gave the Fijians a good run for their money in the first half as Fiji held a 10-0 lead at the break.

The Fijians came out firing in the second half to score 6 tries led by veteran Lavenia Tinai who scored a double.

The Tongans had no answer to the Fijians’ onslaught and were helpless as Fiji cruised to the final that will be played this afternoon.

Fiji will meet PNG in the Women’s gold medal final at 8.30 tonight.

Meanwhile, the Fiji Men’s 7s side will take on PNG in the semi final at 2.48pm today.

The Men’s 7s gold medal final will be at 9 tonight.
