Fiji Rugby and Fiji Airways renewed their partnership for the next two years, extending the airline’s role as Principal Partner of the Fiji Rugby Union (FRU) through to May 2027.

Fiji Airways says the extension reaffirms its long-standing commitment to the nation’s most cherished sport and strengthens a partnership built on a shared national identity.

It says to mark the renewal, both organisations jointly unveiled the new Fiji Airways Fijian Men’s and Fijiana 7s jerseys, which were debuted at the HSBC SVNS Series in Dubai.

They say the refreshed design celebrates tradition, unity, and the deep cultural values that continue to inspire Fiji’s world-renowned sevens teams.

Acting FRU Chief Executive Officer Koli Sewabu says that at the centre of the jersey is the triangular huddle pattern, echoing the formation players gather in before every match, with hands pointed upward as a symbol of togetherness, shared purpose, and reverence for God.

He says this powerful cultural and spiritual motif represents the grounding, discipline, and brotherhood/sisterhood that guide both teams on and off the field.

The new range also introduces green, a key shade in the Fiji Rugby colour palette.

Inspired by Fiji’s lush tropical landscapes, the colour reflects home, heritage, and the environment that shapes the nation’s people.

Its inclusion adds vibrancy while honouring the natural beauty of Fiji.

Fiji Airways Managing Director and CEO, Paul Scurrah says the partnership extension reflects the airline’s deep connection to rugby and the Fijian spirit.

He says Fiji Airways has proudly sponsored Fiji Rugby for nearly a decade, a partnership built on shared pride and purpose.

Scurrah says rugby is part of Fiji’s national identity; it unites us, inspires our youth, and carries the hopes of the nation every time our teams take the field.

He adds that the new jersey is more than a design; it reflects our shared journey and the world-class talent and resilience of Fiji.

Meanwhile, Sewabu welcomed the renewed partnership and the meaning behind the new jersey, saying this partnership with Fiji Airways is a major boost for them.

He says it gives confidence to the players, coaches, and management that their Principal Partner stands firmly with them in every challenge and triumph.
