Fiji Muslim League withdraws McDonald's Fiji Halal certification

The Fiji Muslim League has withdrawn the Halal certification that was previously granted to McDonald's Fiji.

General Secretary Saiyad Hussain says following several meetings with McDonald's Fiji and a thorough inspection of the mechanical slaughter process in New Zealand conducted by members of the Board of Islamic Affairs, they determined that the process does not fully comply with Halal requirements.

He says that due to these non-compliances, the Halal certification for McDonald's Fiji has been revoked.
