The Fiji Airways Fiji Men’s 7s side kicked off their HSBC Cape Town 7s on a high note with a thumping 70-7 win over Uruguay in their first pool match this morning.

Fiji scored a total of 10 converted tries in the win.

Fiji went into halftime with a comfortable 35-7 lead after scoring 5 converted tries through Filipe Sauturaga (2 tries), Joji Nasova, Kavekini Tanivanuakula and Pilipo Bukayaro while Uruguay managed to score a converted try in the first half through Mateo Vinals to trail.

Fiji started the second half well and scored a further 5 tries through Vuiviawa Naduvalo (2 tries), Suliano Volivolituevei, Ilikimi Vunaki and Terio Veilawa for the win.

Fiji now currently tops their pool and a win against Great Britain will see them book a place in the semi final.
