The Fiji Men's 7s side has wrapped up their 2023 Pacific Games 7s campaign with a gold medal after defeating Samoa 19-5 in the final.

It was an electrifying final with both teams displaying some great footy.

Fiji started the game well with Captain Suliano Volivolituevei leading by example scoring the first try of the game with the conversion missing for a 5-0 lead.

Rover Ratu Sakiusa Siqila scored Fiji's second try and added the conversion to extend their lead to 12-0.

Samoa got back into the game as Tom Maiava scored an unconverted try at the stroke of halftime to trail 12-5 at the break.

It was a bit more tighter contest in the second half as Fiji only managed to score 1 try through Iowane Raturaciri.

Samoa tried to come back but Fiji's defence was outstanding as they kept Samoa scoreless in the second half.

Meanwhile, the Fiji Women's 7s side also won gold after defeating PNG 17-7 in the final.

Fiji now have won 10 gold, 16 silver, and 16 bronze so far.

New Caledonia is leading with 55 gold, 37 silver and 34 bronze, while Australia is in second place with 28 gold, 19 silver and 8 bronze.
