Fiji Cancer Society nurse and Project Facilitator Alumita Bera

Fiji Cancer Society nurse and Project Facilitator Alumita Bera revealed that their organisation depends on the generosity of the people of Fiji to run their programs as they are not directly funded by the Government.

While revealing this during the fijivillage Straight Talk with Vijay Narayan, Bera says the funds they get from the Government are through grants, and they will have to apply for that grant.

She says after that, they hope that their application is approved, and if not, they will find some other ways to fund their programs.

She adds they would love to take their services to the islands, but it is limited due to lack of funding.

When questioned on the support they are receiving for Pinktober, the Project Facilitator says most of their support comes from individuals and business houses.

She says Pinktober has been celebrated for years, and one thing they realise is that people now know the information and are aware of what can happen, but they are not seeing any action.

Bera says there is not much action happening.
