A family in Matawalu Village, Lautoka, is counting their blessings after an electric post fell dangerously close to their home this morning.

The incident has left the entire village without power, with residents calling for urgent action from authorities.

Speaking to fijivillage News, 58-year-old Arieta Canoa says her family was having breakfast in the kitchen while her grandchildren were watching TV when they heard shouting from outside.

She says the electric post, which was beside the riverbank where water levels were rising had been a concern for some time.

Canoa says they have filed numerous complaints with EFL about the post and its potential danger, however, the EFL team came and analyzed the matter but did not take their concerns seriously.

Canoa adds that while the family feared the post might fall directly onto their home, it miraculously landed in between structures, avoiding injuries and major damage.

We have sent questions to EFL .
