The Fiji Rugby Union achieved a profit of $88,000 at the end of the 2019 financial year.

This was highlighted by the FRU Chief Executive Officer John O'Connor during their Annual General Meeting that was held at the Novotel in Lami. O'Connor says their annual accounts have been received and adopted by the council.

He says they had a revenue of about $24 million with about $23 million in incurred costs at the end of the 2019 financial year. He adds that it is a good achievement considering the huge amount of funds they used in the preparation for the 2019 Rugby World Cup where they hoped to reach the quarters.

The CEO says they wanted to give the players the best preparations, and also looking after their welfare so that they can go out there and perform but we did not perform as expected
