Fiji’s young athletes have been urged by the Permanent Secretary for Youth and Sports, Meli Nacuva to steer clear of drugs and focus on their personal development.

Speaking at the closing ceremony of the Suva Zone 1 Athletics meet, Nacuva highlighted the growing concerns around drug use in Fiji, and is encouraging students to make positive choices

He adds that remarkable performances were showcased by all schools.

Meanwhile, Mahatma Gandhi Memorial School (MGM) delivered a dominant performance at the Suva Zone 1 athletics meet, topping both the girls’ and boys’ overall divisions.

In the girls’ division, MGM secured first place overall with an impressive tally of 31 gold, 14 silver and 12 bronze medals.

Ratu Sukuna Memorial School (RSMS) finished second with 6 gold, 2 silver and 3 bronze, while Ballantine Memorial School claimed third place with 4 gold, 5 silver and 8 bronze.

MGM continued their dominance in the boys’ division, once again finishing on top with 21 gold, 7 silver and 5 bronze medals.
