FijiFirst MP Faiyaz Koya and Minister for Youth and Sports Jese Saukuru

Minister for Youth and Sports Jese Saukuru says the Fiji Rugby Union had no clear idea that Sydney Airport closes at 11pm that led to the incident of the Fiji Airways Fijiana 7s players sleeping outside the airport while travelling to Dubai for the HSBC Dubai 7s tournament.

This is after he was asked by FijiFirst MP Faiyaz Koya if the Minister can inform parliament as to what measures have been put in place to prevent a repeat of this kind of incident in the future.

Koya says a thorough investigation needs to be done on this matter and someone needs to go home.

Saukuru says unfortunately this incident has happened in the past as well according to the reports received from the FRU which is something they are trying to address now by putting in the administration and logistical support.

He says the coalition government will make sure that this incident will not happen again.

When asked by FijiFirst MP, Jone Usamate if measures have been put in place to ensure that our 7s players will be in the best possible condition to bring back medals from the Paris Olympics this year, Saukuru replied that the team is well prepared for the tournament.
