FEA’s $41 million Wainisavulevu Weir raising project in Monasavu is complete.

The Weir supplies water for electricity generation from the Monasavu Dam.

Raising the current Weir wall has allowed it to capture additional water during the rainy season which will allow additional generation of electricity from the existing power stations.

FEA Chief Executive Officer, Hasmukh Patel said they will now be able to collect more water for electricity generation at the Wainikasau power station and Monasavu Hydro Dam.

FEA said this will reduce the amount of fossil fuel used and they are now waiting for the confirmation for the official opening of this project.
