Fiji Development Bank has won an international award at the Global Sustainable Finance Awards 2023 in Germany for funding the ground-breaking electric vehicle charging stations.

The bank was conferred with the esteemed Certificate of Merit in the category of “Outstanding Sustainable Project Financing for Green Technological Transformation”.

FDB CEO Saud Minam while expressing his appreciation, says the award serves as a motivation for the development bank to persist in its quest for excellence in sustainable project financing.

He says their responsibility is to continue supporting projects that will benefit local communities, fuel economic growth and protect our precious environment.

Minam highlighted that the Electric Vehicle Charging Stations marks a milestone as Fiji will have green technological transformation.

The CEO further says this project will have a positive impact on our environment and will promote a shift towards a sustainable transportation solution in the country.

Minam says these charging stations for electric transportation will give Fiji a lead in reducing our carbon emissions and provide growth of electric vehicles.

The CEO says FDB will be financing new energy vehicles at interest rate as low as 3.99 percent.

Meanwhile, International Council of Sustainability Standards for Value-Driven Financial Institutions Chairman and European Organization for Sustainable Development in Germany CEO Arshad Rab lauded FDB's contribution to the global climate change agenda by electrifying transportation in Fiji through renewable energy resources.

Rab adds electric vehicles are only the most effective way to carbonising transportation but also a key in fighting climate change.
