Minister for Education Premila Kumar.

With more than 22,624 Year 12 and 13 students resuming school from Monday, Minister for Education Premila Kumar says they will be doing an assessment to better understand the needs of the students.

Kumar says teachers will be tasked with doing this assessment because there may be some students who will not be able to bring lunch to school or even afford other things such as bags or uniforms.

She says while Government is still paying for text books, tuition fees and bus fare, they will gauge if the students need other forms of assistance.

Kumar says teachers will be required to do the assessment and come back to the Ministry.

She says organizations such as UNICEF and Save the Children have come on board to assist children who may be facing hardships.
