Dubai 7s: Fijiana secures 38-17 win over Great Britain in first pool match

The Fiji Airways Fijiana 7s side opened their Dubai 7s campaign with a remarkable 31-12 win over Great Britain this afternoon.

Fiji scored two quick tries to Reapi Uluinasau and Lavena Cavuru in the 1st and 2nd minute with Lavena Cavuru adding two conversions for an early 14-0 lead.

Adi Vani Buleki extended Fiji’s lead with a try in the 5th minute with Ana Maria Naimasi converting the try for a 21-0 lead before Great Britain replied with a converted try in the 7th minute to trail 21-7.

Maria Rokotuisiga scored Fiji’s 4th try at the stroke of halftime with the conversion missing as Fiji led 26-7 at the break.

Naimasi scored an unconverted try in the 9th minute to extend Fiji’s lead to 31-7.

Great Britain scored two unconverted tries through Rhona Loyd in the 11th and 13th minute but Buleki scored her second try in the final minute of the game with the conversion missing.

The Fijiana side will take on South Africa at 8.43pm tonight in their second match before playing New Zealand in their final match at 1.35am tomorrow.
