As Suva Grammar School celebrates its Sapphire Anniversary Celebration this week, a group of proud ex-scholars are marking the milestone with a brand-new anthem, ‘Grammar Here’, which is expected to release soon.
The song was written by local artist and former Grammar student Drixstar, who collaborated with fellow ex-scholars Natalie Raikadroka and Mr Grin.
Speaking to fijivillage News, Drixstar says the idea came during the Deans celebrations, when he felt the school spirit strongly and wanted to create something lasting.
He shared that he didn’t have money to pay talent fees, but when he posted the idea on the Grammar page on Facebook, Natalie and Mr Grin jumped on board straight away.
He says the music, originally produced by Tropic Thunder in 2020 for the school’s 60th anniversary, was shelved after celebrations were postponed due to COVID-19.
It has now been revived, mixed, and mastered by emerging Solomon Islands producers Junior, Wiz and Young Soldier.
While the song is not confirmed for a live performance, Drixstar hinted it may debut at the Grammar School Concert at 6pm today, which will be hosted by current students, or the Jubilee Ball on Saturday.
He says for now, the track will serve as a celebration anthem during the week’s festivities.
He says he hopes the song will inspire both current and former students.
