Djokovic says having Murray as his coach is exciting for tennis

Appointing Britain's three-time Grand Slam champion former rival Andy Murray as his coach might be a shock to everyone, but Men's record 24-time major tennis winner Novak Djokovic says this is exciting for tennis.

Murray, who retired from tennis in August, will work with Djokovic in the off-season and in the build-up to the Australian Open.

Djokovic says Murray was caught a bit off guard after he contacted Murray to ask for this partnership, which no one ever thought would happen one day.

He says he took about six months to figure out what he needed at this stage of his career and he realised that the perfect coach would be someone who has been through the experience she is going through, possibly a multiple Grand Slam winner and world number one.

Djokovic says he could not be more excited about this.

He says his body is serving him well and he still has motivation to win Grand Slams.

He adds the reason he asked Murray to work with him is because he still has big plans.

Djokovic says he will keep going as much as he can and feel like he can keep being a candidate for the biggest titles.

The Australian Open will be held from the 12th to the 26th of January 2025.
