Change happens from time to time and one of these changes is the discipline of children nowadays that has really dropped and it needs to be addressed.

This was highlighted by former Ratu Kadavulevu School scholar Josefa Dulakiverata to fijivillage News during the RKS Centennial celebration in Suva.

Dulakiverata says back in their days, discipline was something that they upheld and it has taken them far in life compared to students nowadays where they are taking everything lightly.

The Kumi, Verata, Tailevu man attended RKS from 1966 to 1969 and says this is an issue that really needs to be looked into and parents and teachers need to step up in disciplining their children to avoid them from taking the wrong path in life.

The 74-year-old says back in his school days at RKS, the students were always respectful towards their elders and also when it came to church service time at their school hall.

Dulakiverata says nowadays, even though they now have a church in school, students have no respect at all and there have been a lot of fires that have occurred in the school over the past few years which did not happen back in the early days.

Meanwhile, Dulakiverata says it was great to have met most of his classmates who attended RKS together back in the days during the celebration of their 100th Anniversary this week.

He says he is looking forward to seeing more of them in the coming days as the celebration enters day 3 today.

The RKS Centennial celebration will end this Saturday.
