Prominent lawyer, Devanesh Sharma and Joshua Aziz Rahman.

Prominent lawyer, Devanesh Sharma will now represent Joshua Aziz Rahman who was allegedly found with $31 million worth of cocaine in 2018.

Rahman's co-defence council, Ashneil Nadan told the court that there is no confirmation on overseas lawyer Ronald Gordon which is why Sharma has been engaged to represent Rahman for the trial.

Nadan also proposed to court to set the trial date for February next year as it would be 2 years since Rahman had been remanded.

The trial was supposed to begin on April 27th this year however, the date was vacated.

It is alleged that the Canadian national was found in possession of 39.5kg of cocaine in Caubati on the 14th of February, 2018.

High Court Judge, Justice Daniel Goundar has further remanded Rahman.

The case has been adjourned to 9th October for pre-trial conference.
