It will be a huge responsibility for Fijiana 7s rep Raijieli Daveua to lead the Fire Wardens side in the third leg of the Fun Flavour Super 7s Series that begins today in Lautoka.

The 29-year-old is the only national player in the team.

This is her first time playing for the Fire Wardens team.

She says they are thankful that women’s rugby has been part of the rugby competition in Fiji for some time now and for her.

The former Fiji Netball player adds this competition is also a selecting platform for the Fijiana 7s team that will play in the Oceania tournament next Friday and Saturday and she is ready for the challenges ahead.

The Fire Wardens 7s side is in Pool C with Police, Savusavu and Lautoka.

They will face Savusavu at 11am today in the opening match of the Women’s competition.

In other matches today, Police will meet Lautoka at 11.20am, Rosi Ni Yasawa will face ACS Old Girls at 11.40am, Seahawks will play Striders at 12pm, Valkyries will take on Marist at 12.20pm and Army will meet the NZ Women’s side at 12.40pm.

The men’s competition will start tomorrow.

You can catch the live commentaries of the men’s quarter-finals, semi-finals and final on Saturday on our sister station, Viti FM.
