Fiji-born Chiefs Manawa prop Tanya Kalounivale has been named to start off the bench for the Black Ferns this weekend when they take on the USA Women in round 3 of the Women’s Pacific Four Series.
The former Suva Grammar School student has been impressive for the Black Ferns since making her debut in 2022, and has earned 18 international caps so far.
The 26-year-old was part of the winning Black Ferns 2021 Rugby World Cup squad, but did not play any match until 2022, when she made her debut against the Wallaroos in the Pacific Four Series.
Kalounivale is the daughter of former Counter Revolutionary Warfare (CRW) soldier, Selesitino Kalounivale Snr, who was killed in the 2000 mutiny.
Tanya will be hoping to force her way into the Black Ferns’ Women’s Rugby World Cup squad again in August this year.
The Black Ferns will take on the USA at 3.35pm this Saturday at North Harbour Stadium.
In another match, the Wallaroos will play Canada at 6.55pm tomorrow.
