The Fiji Airways Men's National 7s team has won the Singapore 7s after beating New Zealand 28-17.

Fiji scored four tries with in-form Vuiviawa Naduvalo getting a try each in both halves.

Naduvalo was named player of the tournament.

He scored 10 tries on debut at the Singapore 7s.

Fiji were ruthless in defence in the first half causing many turnovers and starved New Zealand of possession.

Waisea Nacuqu and Joseva Talacolo were the other try scorers for Fiji in the first half.

Fiji captain Tevita Daugunu says it was a very good final.

He says they knew they had to keep the ball away from New Zealand and for most of this final they did just that.

Daugunu adds the team stuck to the game plan perfectly and with it being Palm Sunday back home they hope this has made their family, friends and supporters happy.

The win sees Fiji scooping 22 points on the standings to jump from 11th to 7th place.

South Africa still leads the standings with 98 points, Australia is in second place with 83 points and Argentina in third place with 83.

The next tournament on the World Rugby HSBC Sevens Series is the Vancouver 7s this weekend.
