Crowne Plaza Fiji officially opens, boosting tourism and global event capacity

The new Crowne Plaza Fiji Nadi Bay Resort and Spa has officially opened and is set to elevate Fiji’s tourism brand and strengthen the country’s position on the world stage.

Featuring 300 premium rooms and a 600-seat world-class convention centre, the new development positions Fiji to host bigger global meetings, high-value conferences and major business events, all while showcasing true Fijian hospitality.

While opening the new resort, Acting Prime Minister and Minister for Lands Filimoni Vosarogo highlighted tourism’s powerful impact on Fiji’s economy, noting a 5 percent increase in 2024 and nearly 983,000 international visitors.

He emphasized the sector’s wide reach, supporting jobs for farmers, taxi drivers, entertainers, tour guides, market vendors, and small businesses across the country.

Vosarogo also says the redevelopment of the property has already created hundreds of construction jobs and will continue to generate opportunities for local contractors, tradespeople, farmers, transport providers, performers and artisans.

He has also made a strong call to protect Fiji’s land, forests, reefs and marine biodiversity, vital resources that define the country’s global appeal.

The Acting Prime Minister thanked the investors, partners and the Vanua of Nadi for their support, emphasizing that the government remains committed to ensuring tourism’s benefits are shared fairly with landowners, communities and indigenous businesses.

Also present the opening were former Prime Ministers Voreqe Bainimarama and Mahendra Chaudhry.
