Commonwealth Games: Fiji to compete in a number of sports today

A number of Team Fiji athletes will participate in the Commonwealth Games this evening into tomorrow morning.

In Swimming, Temafa Yalimaiwai will compete in the Men's 200 metres butterfly heats, Rosemarie Rova and Chenneye Rova will participate in the Women's 50 metres freestyle heats, while Epeli Rabua and Taichi Vakasama will compete in the Men's 100 metres breaststroke heats.

Jone Davula will fight Niven Chemben from Mauritius in the featherweight division.

Other athletes that will be participating are Litia Tikoisuva in the Lawn Bowl Women's singles, Caroline Yee and Grace Yee in Table Tennis and Kushal Pillay and Rajesh Prasad in the Lawn Bowl Men's pair.

Looking at the results from last night, Elia Rokobuli won his fight due to a walkover, Tikoisuva lost to Shae Wilson in Round 1 of the Women's singles but made a comeback against South Africa's Colleen Piketh, Fiji beat Wales 13-12 and Norfolk Island 20-12 in the Men's Triples Sectional.
