Acting Police Commissioner Rusiate Tudravu has directed the Internal Affairs Investigations Unit to investigate claims of an alleged case of Police assault in Nakasi.

The claim was made on social media.

A woman claims that four Police officers from the Nakasi Police Post were involved in the alleged assault but they were not in uniform. She says her brother was intoxicated.

She alleges that the four Police officers dragged her brother out of the house and beat him up last Saturday night. The woman alleges in her post that the brother was taken to the Nakasi cell. When they went to see him on Sunday, she claims an officer said that her brother was arrested for allegedly breaching the curfew.

Police say members of the public can send them private messages on their Facebook page as they are trying to locate the people who posted the information.

Anyone with information that could assist with investigations is requested to call the Internal Affairs Office on 9905627.
