Former Wallabies coach Michael Cheika has weighed into the pay stalemate involving Australia's top rugby players, suggesting Rugby Australia needs to be more transparent and show strong leadership.
It comes as Raelene Castle released another statement responding to criticism over why Rugby Australia is yet to provide comprehensive financial details to the Rugby Union Players Association.
Cheika, who coached the Wallabies from 2014 to 2019 and at two Worlds Cups before standing down after Australia's quarterfinal exit last year, was quizzed on the issue of potential pay cuts, which are yet to be sorted between Rugby Australia and Rugby Union Players Association.
Rugby Union Players Association is requesting "detailed financial information" from Rugby Australia before it puts forward a proposal regarding a reduction in salaries due to the abandonment of Super Rugby as a result of Covid-19.
