Hilton Garden Inn still under construction

The Carpenters Group $75 million Hilton Garden Inn Hotel comprising 178 rooms is scheduled to open in Suva in August next year.

While officiating at the "Topping Off” Ceremony for the hotel at the Suva Foreshore, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Finance, Professor Biman Prasad says this is a milestone project for the Carpenters Group.

Professor Prasad says it will include amenities such as a restaurant, bar, swimming pool, car park together with backup power and water supply.

He says Fiji's ability to attract large scale investment like the Hilton Garden is a clear reflection of the trust that investors have in our country and economy.

The Deputy Prime Minister says they are committed to make sound fiscal policies, economic reforms to ensure that Fiji remains competitive and an attractive investment destination.

Professor Prasad further says this is the first phase of the development with the second phase being the waterfront retail development, which will attract both local and international retailers.

He says government is further expanding the tourism sector to Vanua Levu as they had signed a $400 million World Bank Project for the next 8-years.

Meanwhile, Head of Hilton, Paul Hutton says people can expect high level of service that will be affordable and promises better stay for the guests.

Hutton says this is the first waterfront development in Suva and is excited to being this brand to Fiji.
