It was a momentous occasion for 340 students of Pt Shreedhar Maharaj College from Wainibokasi after their cadet pass-out today.

The last pass-out was in 2019, and due to COVID-19, the school could not conduct any cadet training in 2020, 2021 and last year.

School Head Boy and Baton of Honour Awardee, Shane Nand says this training has helped him to be more confident in leading.

Nand says the training was challenging, but it was worth it.

He says the main idea of having cadet training is to instill discipline in students.

While speaking at the cadet pass-out, Minister for Home Affairs and Immigration Pio Tikoduadua stressed to the students that courage, teamwork and discipline are the three virtues that are the cornerstone of success in any endeavour.

Tikoduadua also told the students that courage is not the absence of fear as it takes courage to dare to dream and pursue those dreams relentlessly.

He says the lessons they have learned in cadet training will help them succeed in their studies.

The Minister also acknowledged the founders of the school for their visionary leadership in setting up a school that caters for the children in the Tebara area. A huge number of people, including parents, old scholars and supporters, turned up at the school to witness the students perform drills at the school ground.

The entertainment was not dull as the Fiji Police Force band took the centre stage.
