COC appoints independent selection panels and panel to review the pay and allowances of constitutional office holders

The Constitutional Offices Commission has appointed panels to select the Supervisor of Elections and Commissioner of the Fiji Corrections Service, and the independent determination of appropriate remuneration and allowances for all constitutional office holders.

The Commission says for the Supervisor of Elections position, the Commission has appointed Sekove Naqiolevu as chairperson; Eroni Maopa and; Bhupendra Solanki to the selection panel.

The Commission has also appointed Samuela Vadei as chairperson; Prem Narayan and; Prem Singh to the selection panel for the Commissioner of Fiji Corrections Service.

In accordance with section 136 of the Constitution, the Commission has resolved to appoint an independent committee to advise on the appropriate remuneration and allowances for all constitutional offices.

The committee will consist of the Cama Raimuria as chairperson; Salote Uluinaceva and; Elenoa Biukoto.

The Commission deliberated on the vacancy within the Public Service Commission.

In accordance with its mandate, the Constitutional Offices Commission has resolved to recommend Penijamini Lomaloma as a member of PSC.

The Commission also addressed the vacancy within the Human Rights and Anti-Discrimination Commission. The Commission has resolved to recommend Alefina Vuki as a member of the Human Rights and Anti-Discrimination Commission.

The Constitutional Offices Commission has committed to a timely review of its Standard Operating Procedures within 30 days of their circulation by the Secretary.

It says these resolutions reflect the Commission's dedication to fulfilling its constitutional mandate and ensuring the continued effectiveness and transparency of constitutional offices in Fiji.
