Brumbies beat the Drua 28-20

The Swire Shipping Fijian Drua went down fighting against the Brumbies 28-20 in round 11 of the Shop N Save Super Rugby Pacific.

The match was filled with great intensity as the Drua came close to winning their first game against the Brumbies since their inception in 2022.

The Brumbies started well with Len Ikitau and captain Allan Alaalatoa scoring their points to give them a 14-0 lead.

Fijian Drua fly-half Isaiah Armstrong Ravula converted a penalty in the 34th minute of the game to bring them back into the game.

However, the Brumbies bounced back, with Ikitau scoring his second try to put the host side ahead.

With one minute left in the first half, the Drua managed to get over the try line through Isoa Nasilasila to close the gap to 21-10 at half time.

The Drua came back firing in the second half, with Peni Matawalu diving over the try line, but the try was disqualified as he dropped the ball on the try line.

The Drua did not waver as they continued with their attacks, and this gave nippy half-back Simione Kuruvoli the opportunity to dodge through the Brumbies' defence and dive over the try line.

The Brumbies responded with a try to Luke Reimer as they moved ahead with 28-17.

Armstrong-Ravula was precise with his kicking, as he converted another penalty to close the gap to a 28-20 game.

The match heated up as 10 minutes was left in the second half, with the Brumbies trying to get a bonus point and the Drua aiming for their first win away.

The Drua had a lot of possession and territory in the second half, but they could not execute those plays to put them ahead of the Brumbies.

In other results, the Highlanders beat Moana Pasifika 28-17, the Reds defeated the Crusaders 33-28, and the Chiefs thrashed the Force 56-7.
