Aamir Khan has inaugurated the 16th Indian Film Festival in Melbourne, Australia.

As part of the Independence Day celebrations at Fed Square, Khan also raised the Indian national flag, followed by the return of the Remitly Dance Competition.

He says the festival is a great cinematic initiative that brings people and cultures together, and expressed confidence that the films and filmmakers participating will have a wonderful experience.

This year, the festival will showcase nearly 75 films in 31 languages, reflecting themes of inclusivity across gender, race, sexuality, disability and women’s representation.

The 10-day cinematic celebration will conclude on the 24th of this month.
