One of the biggest bands to ever come out of Fiji, the Black Rose will headline the Vodafone Music Festival tonight at Albert Park.

Vodafone Head of Public Relations and Sponsorship, Adriu Vakarau says the Music Fest is to celebrate Vodafone’s 30 years of operations in Fiji.

Vakarau says the band, Black Rose has not performed in Fiji for the last couple of years so they want to bring them out for people to enjoy the free concert.

He says this event also culminates the end of Vodafone’s Birthday celebrations that they have been having for the past month.

Vakarau says they have already had bands like Vude Queen Laisa Vulakoro, Saimoni Vuatalevu, Mata Dance Fiji, ManaVa Perfoming Arts Fiji, Savuto, VLY, Leba Boi Yawa and Bigwilz as well as Georgina Ledua.

He says coming up tonight are YoungBlood and Tunite, VT1s artists Ju Ben, Liz Vamarasi and Billy T followed by the headlining act Black Rose from 8pm.

The Head of Public Relations says they are ending Vodafone’s Birthday celebrations with a bang tonight.

73-year-old Vinaisi Raqisia from Tacirua East says she was at Albert Park with her grandkids from 8.30 this morning to enjoy the Music Fest.

Also spotted at the free concert was First Fighter Editor and Producer Dave Lavaki with his family out enjoying the sun and music.

Lavaki says it is nice to be able to bring the family out to a family music festival, so while the children are playing nearby he and his wife can enjoy the music.

He says one of the things he loved was the mix of Fijian, Indian, English songs as well as a variety of dance acts throughout the day.

The Vodafone Music Fest is on till 9 tonight.
