Portuguese club Benfica created one of the biggest upsets of the 2025 FIFA Club World Cup after edging German club Bayern Munich 1-0 in their Group C clash this morning.
Benfica’s Andreas Schjelderup scored the only goal of the match in the 13th minute of the match which had them leading 1-0 at the break.
Bayern tried to make a comeback in the second spell, but Benfica stood their ground and held onto their defence.
Despite dominating the match statistics, Bayern could not make use of their advantage.
Bayern had 13 hots with 4 shots on target and had a total of 73 percent of possessions.
In another match this morning, New Zealand-based Auckland City showed much improvement as they held Boca Juniors 1-all.
In other matches of round 3, PSG defeated Seattle Sounders 2-0, Atletico Madrid edged Botafogo 1-0, Porto held Al Ahly 4-all, and Inter Miami held Palmeiras 2-all.
