Prime Minister Voreqe Bainimarama has conveyed his appreciation to New Zealand’s Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern for New Zealand’s timely support to Fiji.

The New Zealand Government has offered Fiji a grant contribution of approximately $60 million in budget support in response to the economic crisis caused by the COVID-19 pandemic.

New Zealand is also supporting Fiji in its efforts to access safe and effective vaccines and in doing so, New Zealand will contribute vaccine support package of 500,000 doses of AstraZeneca vaccine and grant funding of NZ$2 million support for vaccine delivery.

In a telephone conversation today Bainimarama thanked Ardern and the people of New Zealand for standing in solidarity with Fiji.

Bainimarama says this remarkable assistance from New Zealand will be of great importance in assisting Fiji’s current response and recovery measures.

He says this gesture of kindness and generosity will always remain in the hearts of every Fijian.

Bainimarama adds this partnership attest to the unbreakable bond of friendship and bilateral relations between Fiji and New Zealand that continues to strengthen.
