FijiFirst Leader Voreqe Bainimarama says he has noted that the People's Alliance Leader Sitiveni Rabuka and the National Federation Party Leader, Professor Biman Prasad always highlight that the 1997 Constitution was the best Constitution for Fiji in every campaign meeting they attend, however, Bainimarama says the 1997 Constitution was one of the worst constitutions ever and under it, the land in Denarau was legally sold forever.

While speaking in the iTaukei language at a campaign meeting at Nakurukuru Village Hall in Lami, Bainimarama says the two leaders are highlighting this constitution because it was Rabuka and the late former NFP Leader Jai Ram Reddy that had come up with the constitution.

He says now Rabuka is trying to draw a beautiful picture of him in every campaign meeting he attends by saying that it was under the Land Exchange Act that the land in Denarau was sold.

Bainimarama adds that with the many explanations Rabuka gave for the land issue for Denarau, the reality is that the land was sold and lost forever.

The FijiFirst Leader says the reason why they removed the 1997 constitution is that it also caused racial discrimination, and it was evident during the elections where there were four lines for each ethnicity.

Bainimarama says they removed that under the 2013 Constitution.

He further says that the Opposition is raising this issue just to get people’s votes, and asked the people if anyone was not assisted under the FijiFirst government during their term in government.
