Former Prime Minister Voreqe Bainimarama was questioned in relation to allegations of abuse of office in another case today.

While leaving the CID Headquarters, Bainimarama claimed that this is a political witch-hunt.

Chief of Intelligence and Investigations, ACP Sakeo Raikaci says the report pertains to allegations that Bainimarama had approved the waiver of a process for the purchase of medical equipment worth over $500,000.

Former Minister for Health, Doctor Neil Sharma was also questioned yesterday.

ACP Raikaci says the matter was initially reported to FICAC and is now being investigated by the CID taskforce.

We have sent questions relating to Police on Bainimarama claiming this is a political witch-hunt. They are yet to respond.

Meanwhile the abuse of office trial of Bainimarama and suspended Police Commissioner Brigadier General Sitiveni Qiliho will begin on the 17th of July.
