The Ba Rugby Team is aiming to be a contender for the 2024 Skipper Cup and Farebrother competition and is also looking to produce more players for the Flying Fijians.

The Ba Rugby side qualified for the Skipper Cup competition after reaching the final of the 2023 Vodafone Vanua Championship.

Former Flying Fijians winger and Ba Rugby coach Vilimoni Delasau says this is part of their 3 to 5 year plan.

He says they will continue the way they have been working which is finding sponsors to fund what the team needs, and they hope that they can be established as a major union.

Delasau believes that what helped Ba in last season's Vanua Championship was their backline players who is all playing in different 7s tournaments around the country and this is a key component that they must harness rather than left ignored.

He says the only challenges they face now is bringing their players from the interior of Ba to attend their training program.

He adds that they had to look for players last year, but since the beginning of the Tikina competition, a lot of new players have put their hands up in representing their Province.

Delasau says they are grateful to their sponsors like the Ba Industries, Vinod Patel, Rooster Chicken, Fiji Pine and other sponsors who have helped them boost their way to the Skipper Cup.

The Skipper Cup tournament is scheduled to start on the 24th of February.
