The latest BBC Media Action research reveals that cost of living is the top national concern, followed closely by crime, safety, and issues related to alcohol and drugs.
She says that on a local level, crime and security top the list of concerns, while personal challenges are largely centred around supporting family, highlighting the deep cultural importance of family obligations in Fiji.
Qualitative data from this year's BBC Media Action Research reveals that fijivillage is regarded as one of the most trusted news sources in Fiji.
The survey also reveals that radio continues to enjoy widespread listenership, and Navtarang is identified as the country’s most popular Hindi station, followed by Radio Sargam, while FM96 leads among the youth audiences and LegendFM leads it's target audience. VITIFM has also been ranked highly in the survey.
The research says while social media dominates as a primary source of information for Fijians, traditional media retains strong credibility as a reliable news platform.
The independent survey, which included both quantitative and qualitative research, surveyed 1,013 individuals aged 18 and above, and also included people with visual and hearing impairments, providing a deeper understanding of how Fijians access and navigate the digital landscape.
