Ratu Simione Matanitobua College's senior girls' long-distance runner, Adi Makereta Talemaigau, was surprised with her performance today at the Coca-Cola Suva Zone 2 competition, as she was not expecting to win two gold medals for her school this year.

Talemaigau says coming into this competition, she was looking forward to giving her best again, but she did not expect to win, knowing she has gained a bit of weight from last year.

The 17-year-old won gold in the senior girls' 1500 metres and the senior girls 800 metres final.

Talemaigau attended Lomary Secondary School last year and won gold for them in the intermediate girls 800 metres and 1500 metres before she moved to Ratu Simione Matanitobua College this year.

She says it was hard running against the school she attended last year, but she just gave her best for her new school.

The Nakorotubu, Ra girl says she has now set her target of winning gold at the Coca-Cola Games this year, as she won silver last year while attending Lomary Secondary School.

Talemaigau says her hardest competition is going to be coming from Naitasiri Secondary School, and she is looking forward to the challenge.

Meanwhile, Marist continues to lead the boys' overall medal tally with 11 gold, 8 silver and 5 bronze, Grammar is second with 4 gold, 6 silver and 6 bronze while Ratu Latianara College and Nuku Secondary School are in 3rd place with 1 gold and 1 bronze each.

In the girls' division, Grammar currently leads with 8 gold, 3 silver and 3 bronze, St Joseph's is in second place with 5 gold, 6 silver and 4 bronze while Rampur College and Ratu Simione Matanitobua College are in 3rd place with 2 gold each.
