Acting Commissioner of Fiji Corrections Service, Sevuloni Naucukidi who allegedly threatened a member of his support staff, has been granted bail by the Suva Magistrates Court.
He is charged with one count of criminal intimidation.
He appeared before Suva Magistrate Shageeth Somarathe this afternoon, however, the matter has been stood down to 2.30pm to deal with issues surrounding his overseas travel.
Defence counsel Joji Cakau informed the Magistrate that Naucukidi remains the Acting Corrections Commissioner and has an official trip to New Zealand tomorrow.
The State has requested to sight the travelling documents.
Cakau says Naucukidi will return on the 17th of October.
Magistrate Somarathe says he can allow the Acting Corrections Commissioner to travel, return and then he can surrender his passport.
The bail conditions include not to re-offend, not to interfere with witnesses and reside at the bail address.
It is alleged that in July this year, he threatened a member of his support staff.
A complaint was lodged by the victim earlier at CID headquarters.
