All information gathered or shared surrounding death of Constable Racagi is being pursued - COMPOL

Police Commissioner Rusiate Tudravu is assuring members of the public that all information gathered or shared to investigators surrounding the death of Police Constable Peniasi Racagi, is being pursued.

There has been a lot of speculation about the alleged involvement of some drug dealers and police officers.

The Commissioner stresses the speculation that investigators are being selective in the conduct of the investigation is not true, to the extent that a separate team was set up at the Criminal Investigations Department to pursue claims of the involvement of police officers.

When asked by fijivillage News, Commissioner Tudravu stresses that silence does not mean they are being complicit, and trying to hide the truth or protect officers involved.

Tudravu reiterates that if there is sufficient credible evidence, they will pursue charges, as police officers are equally accountable to the law.

The Commissioner says there are official channels for reporting and urges members of the public to utilize available platforms to share information that will be kept confidential.

Commissioner Tudravu says the investigation teams are being headed by senior investigators.

He is again urging the public to trust the process as there are processes that investigators must be compliant with before they bring in people for questioning, so they do not compromise the case.

Tudravu is urging anyone who wishes to share information to call the Fiji Police Headquarters Call Centre on 1681.
