A marathon of open-heart surgeries is all set to carry on in March at Fiji’s largest state-of-the-art 130-bed specialty private hospital.

Cardiothoracic Surgeon Dr Sanjeev Khulbey who has been giving heart patients a new lease of life since the commissioning of a world-class cardiology department and operations theatre at Pacific Specialist Healthcare (PSH Hospitals) since November 2024 with his team of highly trained cardiology specialists is looking forward to another round of successful surgeries for patients from Fiji and other regional countries in the Pacific.

Riding on the back of thirty-years of experience, Dr Khulbey and his team has already created history by carrying out a quadruple graft heart bypass surgery on two separate patients so far.

Such a delicate procedure was previously unheard of in Fiji until now and is therefore dubbed as a medical breakthrough and milestone achievement for the country and the entire region.

“Following the initial open-heart surgery in November last year, PSH Hospitals has been inundated with enquiries from patients not only in Fiji but across the Pacific Island nations,” Dr Khulbey informed.

“The number of patients keeps increasing each month further demonstrating the level of confidence that the patients and their family members have on PSH Hospitals and we are very proud to be providing world-class services right here in Nadi and that too at a much affordable cost and convenience,” Dr Khulbey added.

PSH Hospitals founder and chief executive officer Parvish Kumar said heart patients who do not require complex open-heart surgeries can also get treated via angioplasty which is a non-invasive procedure commonly known as stenting.

“We also have Dr Srikar Miryala who is a highly trained interventional cardiologist with over 10,000 angiograms and stenting procedures added to his list of achievements,” Mr Kumar said.

Mr Kumar said patients who are facing financial constraints can talk to the management as PSH Hospitals is ready to assist all deserving patients with easy payment options.

“Saving precious lives is more important and we understand not all patients are able to pay for such delicate procedures in full so there are easy payment options available,” Mr Kumar informed.

“PSH Hospitals Nadi now operates 24/7 and patients are welcome to visit us any time of the day or night on any day of the week.”
